Having a very difficult time reducing seroquel (with my pdoc). Took a prescribed sleeping pill last night and have not slept a wink and feel terrible anxiety and mega life frustration. Trying to take a nap now but can't. This can't continue.
Plan is to go on another pill after testing levels to see if highly elevated liver enzymes are an effect from years of seroquel.
just really uncomfortable. Luckily I don't have to be anywhere or do anything today but tomorrow I work the early morning shift then work the closing shift the following day.
why won't our brains just shut off?!? This is making me insane(r).

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

that these meds should come with a warning and formulations that avoid these terrible side effects. One friend of mine couldn't wean completely off seroquel and had to keep taking 5mg daily. These psych meds are powerful things and shouldn't be used without
being aware. I wish you courage and strength!
Do they do that? Can you go to detox and rehab for meds like this? I'm wondering what my options are because dealing with work (with unsteady hours) simultaneously is stressing me out more. If I could take FMLA pay from my job and do it I would. Too bad my HR person just quit and there's nobody to call to discuss this!
I just need to vent about this somewhere and this just be the place. i sure wish workplaces were supportive dealing with this BS. If anyone knows a company that is hollar and I will research. I'm an awesome worker who brings a lot but unfortunately this bs has tripped me up too much in my career....
Detoxing off Psych meds is hard, it generally has to be done slowly, by taper and spread out over a length of time, as in months, depending on how long you've been taking the meds you're trying to get off of. The faster you try to detox, the less successful you tend to be is the general Rule.
And no they do not generally put people in the hospital for rapid detox of Pscyh Meds in non-emergent situations, because its not safe. The amount of drugs they have to pump your body full of to get you clean of the drug they're trying to detox you from is dangerous, and it usually involves putting you in a light coma state for a certain length of hours.
Seroquel is a good drug for BiPolar, but it comes with it's own issues like all the other meds we pick from.....Hobo I hope you get through this and to a more stable, calm point. I don't know what dosage you were on or how your decreasing the dosage vs. time, but a low/slow taper really is the best way to get off the drug if your having such severe withdrawal symptoms.
Anyway to cit yourself some slack as you go about this hard change?
I've had a few rough days and got a little bit of sleep here and there. I took a higher Ambien dosage one night bc I had to get through work Sunday and it was a very challenging day and I felt just awful. I woke up angry and irritated then was hit with other people's impatience. I'm having problems with work and just feeling entirely overworked and under appreciated with a pay that is deserving of more. Then my fiancé fell in his job and we spent hours in ER while I'm trying to navigate Workers Comp paperwork and he's supposed to be home resting but is instead out driving people because we don't know how long it will take for a paycheck to come since he has work restrictions and out of work until his doctor clears him and we were planning for....
Im just going to stop there. So many things are out of our control, no matter how hard we work. I tend to get angry-anxious during times like this over things I can't control like corporate greed and self-serving egomaniacs of business who have no idea how front line service workers Struggle while they enjoy healthy happy worklife balances....
Im doing nothing today. Laundry and steam mopping the floors. That's my self care for today. Oh and making more dr appts, that too.
Thanks for letting me vent!!!
