Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. I've been on 300mg of Seroquel for about a week now, and I have the worst hangovers in the morning if I sleep any less than 12-14 hours. Today after 9 hours of sleep I feel like I've pulled on all-nighter, sick, exhausted, barely can keep my eyes open at work. I've tried taking it earlier in the evening, but after about an hour or so I can barely walk and NEED BED. Should I talk to my doctor about getting off this or push through a little longer and continue to be more dilligent about my sleep schedule?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I take it about an hour before bed and I'm on both immediate release as well as time released
I do need more rest being on Seroquel.... It's not like before I was on it however I can function well.... Big hug.....xo
You have to be patient, go through the dosage adjustments and let the medicine adjust your brain blood plasma level. It takes a while when your starting new meds, it can be anywhere from 3 -9 weeks depending on how fast your brain adjusts and your body learns to metabolize them. There's no hack or secret trick to getting through the faster. Try to get a good nights sleep, take your meds earlier in the evening like around 8:00, then go to bed around 10:00, that gives you a full night to sleep off the Seroquel and be up and ready for your day the next morning. You just have to do your best to get a fulls nights sleep so you don't feel to bad the next morning. The in the morning do things to perk you up and feel better. A Protein breakfast, eggs, bacon/sausage, greek yogurt, fresh juice (Orange or Grapefruit) is best for getting your brain woke up and functioning. Skip the carbs. A good breakfast after a good nights sleep, then off to work. Make sure you take some healthy protein snacks with you, greek yogurt, snack bars, superfoods like Apples, Kale, Cucumbers. You can cut the Kale into triangle shapes and deepfry them, take them out of the hot grease, sprinkle with Sea Salt and you have Kale Chips, great snack. Slice up Cucumbers and Apples (jazz apples are awesome this time of year) and carry them to work so you can snack on healthy things throughout the day.
I'd also make an appt. with your Pdoc to see what his plan is for moving up to the next dose.
Take care,
Kat
