Sounds like the seroquel to me. I had the same symptoms on it. I am so glad I am not on it anymore.

I don't take Seroquel, but I have heard the weight gain and sedative side effects. I have not heard of the stoned feeling, restlessness, or muchies. I would ask my doctor about that. It could be the med or something else. I'm sorry that I don't have any answers for you, but I do wish you luck in finding those answers!!

Thanks christa, I just wanted to make sure it was the seroquel rather than something else. i didn't want to take it again but agreed with my pdoc we'd give it a 6 week trial

im on 600mg of seroquel xl which i take at night. weight gain is definitely a side effect for me, yah i get the munchies. i dont really get that stoned feeling or restlessness. it works pretty good for me.

I took it for one week and refused to take it any longer, I would wake up feeling like I was walking around in a fog for several hours after waking. I did not feel safe to drive or even work when I was on it.

When I first started out on 600 mg I would get a stoned feeling that would last hours after waking, and as a previous member said, feeling unsafe to drive.

The side effects do wear off after a few days, maybe a week or so, as your body adjusts.

It does slow down your metabolism somewhat though, and yeah it's a classic weight gaining med. The restlessness could be from your body adjusting to the zombie like state.

I'd say give it at least a week or two weeks before you consider any decisions.

They started you just straight out on 600mg? Or they built you up to it over a few days? I say give it a week or so and you will feel better. I was up to 800mg regularly of the XR (XR is better in regards to sedation overall) I did hit 1200mg but that wasn't a regular deal. The higher the dose the less sedative I found it. I did find weight gain to be the worst part - but if you add Topamax at a high enough dose it should help (I just got acidosis from it so had to drastically reduce Topamax and therefore weight gain Blah) I have been on it for a year and a half and found it to be perfect for chilling me out.. if you are schizoaffective though it does not do that well on negative symptoms, but I found the 800mg dose wonderful for depression and of course controlling psychotic issues as well. (it worked for most psychotic issues/symptoms/whatever you want to call it.. for myself I would have to say starting at 400mg) :-D

Oh and yea at first you feel like you are wearing a lead suit, and just pass out - it seems sooo strong at first... after awhile that totally goes away (well for me it did) - it is amazing the difference when I look back.

I had nausea -- awful nausea and I guess you could say I felt stoned. I was just out of it -- really out of it and not in a good way.

They started me on 300 for one day then straight up to 600XR day 2, and pdoc wants to review in 6 weeks.

I'm gonna give it a week or so and see how I feel, I'm not in the best place really for judging how meds affecting me lol

I'm most def with post #9! At first I thought it was a miracle drug, yeah groggy but def brought me back down to earth and then buried me alive. The day I went in and pdoc took me off the only way I could explain it was, "I feel like I'm standing outside the window looking at everyone else living life." Perhaps for you it is an adjustment phase but for me it was like falling either further out of life.

Yikes that is a crazy high titration, but if you are manic I think they may do it that way? If you are not manic though that is kind of strange from what I remember. I was on 25mg one day, 50mg the next, 100mg the next, 200mg the next, and 400mg the next and then we went from there, but I stayed on 400mg for I think a week?

& I had a packet from the manufacturers of Seroquel that had the pills and the titration outlined (kind of like what they do with Lamictal, but not nearly as many tablets)
