I have been on Seroquel for a few months and it has done me wonderfully well on my psychosis. Went to pdoc on MOnday and he is taking mee off it over the next week due to weight gain. I have gained about 25 pounds-UGH!! He put me on the Geodon along with Cogentin to offset the adverse reaction like I had when I was on it before. Keep your fingers crossed for me. BTW, what is the claim in that class action suit? Take care hun and have a good day.

I am on it as well and it has been a miracle medication. Oh, Boy, what channel, maybe I will look up on line.

I ALWAYS hear that people GAIN weight on Seroquel. Is there someone who hasn't???

me, I put myself on an eating schedule, low carbs, and I do not give into the munchies, it does give you the muchies

Good going emelia!! That's great!! If it gives you the munchies that's really hard to do. Continued success with that. I say this because I really need a miracle med. Abilify is GREAT for mania and mixed states and irritability but the depression is kicking my ass. If Seroquel can help that w/o weight gain...I'll be really psyched!! I'm already on risperdal and it hasn't made me gain so I don't see why Seroquel would. I actually lost on Risperdal. I guess cuz I was soo damn depressed!! We'll see. Thanks for the info.

i'm on Seroquel and doing great. i have actually lost a few pounds on it....but i have been watching what i eat and exercising....

RKB I take it right at bedtime and I miss the munchies, but I do wake up with the munchies.


I think if I eat in the middle of night I wont be able be able to sleep

This lawsuit is the same ole BS that was bitched about with Zyprexa. Most schizophrenics are at risk for diabetes. It's not the med itself. If this comes off the formulary like Zyprexa did in Maryland it's going to cost a bundle to get. It's not in the best intrests to sue. I wish people could see that.

Seroquel has been shown to increase the risk for diabetes, but alot of this has to do with the weight gain of Seroquel. I have been on the medicine for about 8 months now and am doing well with no weight gain from it. But I also am on an anti-convulsant that counteracts the weight gain.

Seroquel worked very well for me when I was on it and I lost weight with it. It actually decreased my appetite. One problem with it is that is slows your metabolism and causes lack of energy which in turn causes your body to metabolize food differently. As with any meds there are risks but we make the best informed decisions we can. I dont believe in law suits except where definate negligence is present. It is why many things in life are so expensive. Hugs

The only problem I have had with Seroquel thus far is the price; it is quite expensive here in Canada. Outside of that it has been a God-send for me as regards my insomnia and paranoia, anxiety, etc. I have gained some weight but I believe it is more or less from sleeping more and exercising less; something I hope to address soon.

Hey, with the difference between how i was last November and the way i am now, I would rather stay on the Seroquel, despite the risk of diabetes, with my weight gain. I am on seroquel because i had insomnia. It does exactly what it was prescribed for. I am on Lamictal for the bi-polar.
