School stress-> depression

Hi all,

I've been struggling with my depression for over a month now. What I think caused it is my school stress. I feel so overwhelmed that I just end up blowing off my school work or skipping class sometimes. I talked to a counselor and he suggested I take a load off by withdrawing from a class. I think that is a reasonable idea but I don't want to delay my graduation, which is coming up. I keep dreaming about school and all the stuff I have to do but don't have the energy to actually do them. When I am not forced to get up for a meeting or work, I sleep for at least 12 hours. I end up feeling guilty and mad at myself for being so lazy. Can anyone relate to this?

I just joined this site yesterday and would like some support and advice please. Thanks guys.

Hear you loud and clear! I'm trying to get through the semester from hell I hate my classes and it's all I can do to bring myself to do the work!

Depression sucks, your not alone : )

not many people come up to the sub-categories, maybe you can cut-paste this and put on the main board? General discussion I think : )

I can relate to it. I took a year off of school to pursue some other interests and am now back in it trying to finish up my final six classes. I hate it. I love to learn, but I hate doing it in a school setting. All I can say is try to do the best that you can. Sleeping in for twelve hours and missing class is my speciality especially after something stressful. When I feel intense stress I shut down completely.

I have been depressed also and I'm not going to classes bc of it. I'm trying desperately to get a job. Just keep pushing yourself and try to keep yourself occupied. I feel like if I have to much time to think and not do it doesn't help. Good Luck and hope you enjoy the site.
