I have been taking seroquel for the last seven years,panorama the tv show has had an hour special on how dangerous the drug is,in dementia,bipolar and other illness,can cut your life down by years,no meds for me tonight,so your in for a long night,anyone else?I really was Miss Seroquel xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Every drug of the nature of Seroqual has side effects and possible life shortening impact. However I stay stable. Also those last ten years are usually in a rest home with a colostomy bag, a Zimmer frame walker and some uncaring prat calling you POP.

I've been on Seroquel for 2 yrs now and it has been my wonder drug, well one of them anyway. The biggest side effect that I have is weight gain, at least I'm guessing it's that, my eating patterns hasn't changed or physical activity. But then again Depakote did the same thing. The only thing I have heard is that it could possibly cause diabetes and it does run in my family, but he checks my sugar every time I go and it's in the normal ranged. Another thing that I have noticed is that if I don't take it I can't sleep! I don't know if that means my body has adjusted to it and its working effectively or I'm addicted. The pdoc increased me by 100mg a few weeks ago and almost immediately I had a headache day in day out. I went in and he decreased it by 50mg and headaches are gone!

Oh yeah, did you just quit taking it because of tv show or did your doctor take you off? If so, did he prescribe something new and if so what?

Yes,you do depend on it to sleep,I have an hour if I am lucky,never used to be like that xxxxxxxxx

As long as you have your fasting glucose checked at least once a year you are ok.
The only real long term side effect seen so far is an increased risk of diabetes.

So to cover my bases with all my meds I have my glucose, thyroid, and liver enzymes checked at least once a year. It is all about preventative maintanence

#20,no the show was just on tonigt and it really scared me,I do go through the stage of not taking it not because of the risks as I never knew there were any,but just cause I can get so much done,housework etc,but I am going to find out about seroquel,I have just been taking like a good little girl xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
