Hey everyone...
I like to think of myself as an advocate for stopping the stigma on mental disorders. But I feel like a hypocrite when I feel weird to admit to a new friend that I suffer from bipolar. I guess it's because of the stigma that I get nervous to say it, but ...
I have a new friend. He's from Greece. I'm from Texas. So major cultural difference there. He's a really nice guy and I told him through private msg that I have bipolar. He hasn't responded & I'm just wondering what he thought about it. And here's another thing, I really care about him, I really like him. I will probably never see him again. Greece is so far from the corner town in Texas that I live in. So messaging is all we have. And I hardly know anything about the Greek culture and how they process personal information. "Texicans" are pretty open lol. Did I say too much by telling him I have bipolar?
Please share your thoughts :)

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

And by the way, my new Pdoc is from Greece.
Currently Greece is experiencing an epidemic of mental illness due the stress of the financial crisis.
It may be he needs time to think or it may be that he feels he doesn't want contact with someone with mental illness. Can't tell.
How long ago did you message him?
One thing to remember though is that since you two live in other countries anyway he may not matter to you in a few months. In a bit you may have another long distance friend to talk to. People on the Internet as in real life come and go as their lives pull them away. if you lose this friend over your mental illness due to cultural stigma, you lost someone where there was never much of a future anyway.
