Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I was really sad when I got my diagnosis. I actually didn't "believe" it. Didn't want the label. I was Hypomanic at the time so nothing could touch me and I knew it all, who were they to put labels on being perfect?! Right? ha. I also struggle with my addictions. I recently started back into AA. It's been a year and a half since I was last in those rooms but I know how out of control my life gets with Bipolar and Alcoholism, it's a mess and not who I am inside, so why be that way? Anyway, I was sad about taking the meds forever too, I went on and off a lot of different ones for a while, but each time I went off, I would slide into that nasty familiar SAD place where I hoped for death to relieve me of my pain. Then when I look back I'm like you know what, I'd rather take a stupid pill every-day than feel like that, it may take time but I'm worth it and eventually when you come out of the dark you realize life is really worth it too. Without depression and without the highs. (and hangovers I'm finding out! ha) Anyway, I'm sad for the things that you are but just know you are not alone and it takes more strength to take the meds and educate yourself about your disorder than it does to ignore it.
P.S. Great book I just read -----> "Bipolar II" by Ronald R. Fieve, MD.. it says on the front " Enhance your highs, boost your creativity, and escape the cycles of recurrent depression - the essential guide to recognize and treat the mood swings of this increasingly common disease".
