Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 about 6 months ago and so far it's been the hardest thing have ever dealt with. I've struggled with my mental health my whole life but I was just now diagnosed at 24 years old. Coming to terms with his has been so difficult. And even now that I'm on medication it still hasn't eased all of my symptoms. I have been pretending I am ok since my diagnosis but I'm just not. I even lie in therapy and to my boyfriend who I live with that everything is ok and it just isn't. I can't do this anymore I'm just exhausted and I need some help and advice please...

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I was diagnosed at 28, and it explained a lot. The idea of meds hard to get used to and I've been on them years. Going thru a med change right now. It's good you see some difference in your meds, but you have to be honest with the doc. He/she can't read minds.
People don't like about depression, they lie about feeling OK - so you are a typical bipolar. Welcome aboard. You might want to try some face to face meetings, there are two good organizations you can look up - NAMI and DBSA.
Welcome aboard, the board is slow right now but please keep coming back, post, and reply on other threads - be part of a support group : )
Being sick and tired of being sick and tired is also common, Hold on it will pass. ((((BIG HUG))))) You are not alone............
It can take some time to find the right med or med regime... It did for me but you will.... What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another so try and be patient
Just know that we do have a treatable disorder.... Work on finding coping skills along with meds.... jounal-ling..... gratitude... exercise ... meditation etc.... There's a lot that can help
I agree with Gina that in person peer support can really make a difference however it takes some time....
This is a good place to come ...I'm glad that you've found us.... xo
Being as honest as possible with your Therapist and Psychiatrist are the biggest superpowers you have. They are the people in your corner who will fight the hardest to help you find ways to deal with this disease and it's symptoms the best way you can. If you don't tell them the truth, then they cannot help you. If you lie to your Therapist he/she cannot help you learn to process, manage and deal with the things in life that are causing you pain/fear/stress/anxiety. And until you learn how to deal with those things, life will not get easier. If you lie to them because you're scare their going to think your "too messed" up or "theres something wrong with you" that can't be fixed......trust me, they do this for a living and they help people with all kinds of problems on all different levels.
You need to be truthful with your Therapist so they can help you manage your disease and learn how to manage your life. You don't have to tell your boyfriend every single little things, some things are private and not shareable...but your Therapist and Psychiatrist can't help you get better if you are not completely honest with them.
Take care,
Kat
