I know my dad's transmission went out on his van at around 60,000 and he wrote a letter to GM and got them to pay for half of it.
So that might be the way to go. And also maybe threaten to call the news station and complain. That is the last thing any company wants especially right now.
((hugs))
I will try the threatening with the news station thing next, thanks for the suggestion Soss. :-)
It's a Hyundai Elantra. I asked customer service for the number to speak with the regional manager and she repeatedly refused to give it to me. I've been trying to see if I can find it online and so far I've had no luck. She told me that the dealerships are individually owned (which I know) and that there isn't anyone else for me to speak to other than the general manager of the dealership (which I know has to be crap). I already told them they're darn lucky that there wasn't any major damage or personal injury. The part that broke is what holds the wheel in place and it happened when my bf hit the brakes. They are trying to say that the wheel coming loose didn't damage the wheel well and that it being broken is somehow previous damage. I'm not a car person but even I'm not that stupid. I watched the towing guy smush the tire up against the wheel well and it made a squealing sound. I think I'm gonna have to get mean with the general manager. I hate being mean, it just ruins my whole day. I'm getting a headache, lol.
BTW tell your dealership I will never buy one of their brands if that's how they treat their customers!
They should help.
On a recall, they are required by law to replace it whether it is broken or not. Info on the web indicates that the 2001,02,03 was recalled for that problem. Print off that recall info and take it directly to the dealership's service manager.
And, Hyundai's Ethics Management is located in..........ready for it................Korea!!! Ugh!!!
Good luck with it.....xo
I'm curious..if something like why you described broke how can they say that it was already broke....if it was already broke how could you drive the car then? doesn't make sense...it sounds like the car was undriveable in the condition it is in whenever the thing broke...yesterday, a week or a year ago. Do you have witnesses that will say in writing that you have been driving the car up until two days ago?
What about your warentee and service records. If you kept the car serviced then you can prove it wasn't something that was broke for a while because it would have been picked up on inspection at your last servicing. I hope you kept the paper work for that.
Don't get in a pissing match. Call that bitch back get her full name and tell her you are reporting this in writing to her boss all the way up the food chian. don't waste your time with her again and get all upset. Try to get in touch with the bosses and follow up with letters to each of them but give them time to respond. If nothing happens call again and get a lawyer to send them notices of court action. Report them to the government agencies if necessary and send them letters that you are doing this. Keep a copy of all letters and correspondense for the lawyer.
Hope this helps...sorry you are going through all this...fu*king businesses in recessions too fu*king cheap.
the only reason they do recalls is because people have died due to that defect.
i would call the states attorney tomorrow and see if they can help you get this dealership to get off their ass, and then file a complaint with the better business bureau if the dealership is listed.
