Ok I was just put on this new drug. Right now it's only been approved for schizophrenia . Now I can't take anti psychotics because I have severe dystonia. the kind that is very embarrassing and I can't just wait it out. It's also too unpredictable to even take a risk on it as it's already landed me in the ER on more than one occasion! I literally look like I'm choking to death. Scared the piss out of one of my relatives who didn't know what was going on. He gave me the himelic because he thought I was choking and needless to say 911 was called.
So you can see why I have a problem here. Now this new med doesn't list dystonia as a side effect and time will be the test of that!
But I want to say this med has knocked me out for much longer than I care to be out for. I also get my kids this week end thank you so I can't be incapacitated on their account. Now pdoc says I can stop taking it if I feel it's too dangerous.
Any opinions? It's called fanapt.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
How often do you see your kids? Maybe you could start taking it regularly right after the kids leave.
Good luck!! Your Pdoc isn't pushing you to take this. He must not feel that it's your only hope!!!

I was planning on taking it for the next few days to see how it goes. But if there's a hint of dystonia or I still can't wake up by Friday I will quit it for the week end. Well dystonia I will quit it for good. I'm a bit Leary of the dystonia as while the ER doctor's said my oxygen levels were normal I feel and look like I can't breath. It effects my tongue mouth and throat. Plus I can't stop from making embarrassing noises like snoring sounds or other just bizarre noises. So of course if I get dystonia I will stop it immediately.
I started getting Tardive Dyskinesia from Thorazine and I stopped it right away.
And another time I got something else -- I forget what the doctor called it -- that made me grimace and made my arms jerk around and he whipped me off of the AD that was causing it.
I refuse to take any meds that are going to cause pronounced, involuntary movements in me!!!!!
it has some other names too ,maybe under they names ?
And thank you one and all. Yes if it keeps knocking me out like this it will be stopped for children. I can't be passed out while they do god knows what. They aren't old enough to be trusted like that yet.
