Hi,
I was recently DXed with bipolar 1 mixed, and I had to quit my job because I couldn't handle it. I have tried working several different jobs and I just can't do it for weird reasons. Well I am in debt , living with the family with barley enough money to see the pdoc. I don't have insurance I am trying for disability. I was just curious about some medications that are affordable and can be effective. I have been taking fishoil, and I have ran out of the samples from my pdoc now he writes scripts. Is lithium inexpensive? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Nick

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
We don't have one here.
That is the link to the Walmart pharmacy list of $4 prescriptions, click on mental health.
I dont think Costco has a pharmacy, atleast not where I live, but Target does also have a similar program if you have Target where you are
Patient assistance programs.
Note that mood stabilizers are not antidepressants nor are they "downers" - i.e., to bring someone down off a high/manic episode.
Others - lamictal, etc. have an antidepressant quality to them and thus are not solely mood stabilizers.
Bipolar I mixed is very tough nut to crack. Antidepressants can and probably will make you manic, mood stabilizers help some with depression but overall, BP I mixed needs a very very good pdoc and much trial and error.
It has all or almost all the Prescription Assistance Programs listed there.
I assume it's like the site that sjdaud mentions, but I've never been to that one.
Go to both of them!!!! It's worth a look as sometimes you can get the drugs free.
For me, it was very easy to find out whether or not I was eligible, but I also knew which drugs I needed. I'd plug in the drug and it would show me what help was available. Don't know if you have to do it that way, though.
Good luck!!! I can understand wanting to go the most cost effective way, but also look into what the doctor says would probably be best for you and check those sites to see what they'd run you. It would be best if you could get whatever drug works best for you and maybe you'll luck out and get it at no cost or low cost!!!
