I'm actually on 600 mg of lamatrogine now. I haven't ever experienced anything negative with it. I think it really helped level out my mood. How long have you been on your current meds? I know once they adjust mine it takes me about a month or more to notice a difference. And is anything in particular happening on the days you are depressed? It doesn't have to be anything big. Something as simple as dropping your coffee can set it off for me some days. Do you keep a mood journal? That way you could try to identify if there is a pattern to your mood. Like if you notice you get depressed around the same time every day or same time every week or something it can be helpful to try and identify if anything is triggering it. Hang in there. Hi thanks for the reply. I been on lamotrigine on and off since 2009. Nothing really sets me off I just wake up like this depression and anxious feeling off. I don’t understand it.

I was on lamotrigine and needed to increase the dose I was taking because of depression. I was on it for years but I guess my body said enough is enough and became very agitated and very restless. It was horrible I was not on board thinking it was lamotrigine but followed Dr direction and weaned of it slowly and my side effects disappeared. It was I just I took it for years with no problem. So you mean you felt better after going off the lamotrigine.

I had go up to 400 mg of lamotrigine for it to be fully effective as mood stabilzer and staid on that dose for few years.worked very well for me and no side effects. Dose need increasing slowly up though.

I’m also on Zyprexa and used to take lamictal. I’ve never had an issue with either

I've taken lamotrigine in the past and it worked alright for me until it made me develop a rash and I had to discontinue it, I never experienced any negative side effects other than that. Lexapro made my depression worse, but everyone has different reactions. I know people who do well on it. I agree with JudicatorPrime though, a mood journal is a great way to identify what could be causing the depression, whether it be one of the meds or just general life triggers.

I've used Lexapro as part of my cocktail for over 10 years and had no problems with it. Your on such a low dose of Lexapro its hard to imagine it's making much of a difference in anything.

The point being....we all react to meds differently, the way to solve this is make an appt. with your Pdoc and work out your medication issues with him and see what might need changed or which dosage might need increased/decreased.

Lamictal though he's been good to me and they increase the dose if I get manic. The other two that you're on our like antidepressants and like a mood stabilizers while so just call them and see your doctor tell them that you're still feeling depressed and maybe they will have you come in and possibly if need be they might change your medicine to a higher dose or make a change in your cocktail but I would stay on Lamictal if I were you because that's a really good mood stabilizer they can always go up and down on that too so just my thoughts and my opinion only.

She took me off the lexapro and said I was rapid cycling. Added a low dose of abilify

Just to clarify, Lamictal is an an Anti-Seizure med that is used off-label as a Mood Stabilizer for BiPolars. Zyprexa is an Anti-psychotic used to treat BiPolar Symptoms. Ability is also an Anti-Psychotic used to treat more specifically manic symptoms and BiPolar I issues.

These aren't "like" anti-depressants and they don't work in the same was as anti-depressants do. Since she's added the Abilify you'll have to give it some time to work and notice any difference in your symptoms.
