I've experienced lots of psychotic mania. Psychosis is a very dangerous condition that allows us to put ourselves and others in harms way and can result in injury and death through our actions. Fortunately anti-psychotic meds treat this well and for me lithium has kept me out of mania for many years.

Need more meds!!!

Several things come to mind. One is extreme paranoia, another is fear, lethargecy, confusion, sadness, hallucinations, delusions.

I get an image of a person standing there looking so distant and completely out of touch with reality.

I really can't think of a word. Fear is really the one that stands out. When I am psychotic I believe the delusions are real. A part of me is always really afraid the psychosis will come back but medication seems to help keep it at bay.

Sorry - but it is the first thing I think of when I see that word, because one is psychotic if they experience psychosis - well yea duh I know you know that, it is just how my mind works.. maybe a lil strange? or not?

But I know what I have gone through was psychosis, but to give it just a "name" a simple little "name" when it was so much more than just that - I dunno, I don't have much feeling from that word, other than what it actually is literally.. I just dont attach the experience to that word.. for some reason? I also don't like the word because of what people associate with it as well, those who are uneducated.. (but who does?) Um I am rambling..

Oh Lord...I NEVER want to go there again.

I'll stay on meds , live in a constant state of dumbed down ,lethargic feelings.....just to stay away from that place.

I think of it as a " place "...not just a state of mind.

Hallucinations, delusions, paranoia... basically me at 10am today. I'm feeling better now.
