Wow, this is heavy stuff. I can relate to some of this and I want to share what happended to me but I'm a bit emotional about it right now. I'm happy to chat.

it's happened to me several times and i take risperdal to hold the psychosis at bay. i also take lithium and that seems to keep me from ever getting manic in the first place. but a new twist to all this is that now i seem to show signs of psychosis without being the least bit manic...and so my diagnosis has been changed to schizo-affective disorder. this is just been happening recently and so far i have been able to recognize it very early and a small risperdal adjustment provides immediate relief. so i guess bipolar can be a progressive disease. for years all i had was depression, interwined with little bouts of creative energy. then one day all hell broke loose and it turned into manic/psychotic. now this... but i must say, this seems the most managable of all! im rambling...sorry!

My psychosis isn't safely within depression or mania or anything. I wish it were. I wish I could know when to expect it to go.

I seem to hallucinate and experience psychosis almost every day. Is this normal for bipolar?

I don't think i'm bipolar. I joined this group when my doctor said he thought i was bipolar, based on my sleep patterns. I didn't think I was, but I joined the group to prove myself I wasn't in denial lol.

So what does it mean if you have auditory hallucinations anywhere from 4-7 days a week, every week? And vivid visual hallucinations that disappear when you blink at least once in the week? Or when at some point in the day, you worry about bizarre things happening but convince yourself otherwise?

I just realized that I used to measure it by the month. Now it's happening too much to measure it by the month. I need a new doctor.
