Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

It doesn't say bipoars can go without meds period or suggest anyone should do the same.
Why is this an issue? OP obviously knows it's a crap shoot hence the "unless I'm in a breakdown" situation.
I want to know why its ok to come here and talk about treatment and issues but not anyone like myself that chose to go without meds?
This is why I don't share anything here about how I survive without meds. Matter of fact share much period.
Someone tell me where I missed the OP telling anyone to stop meds or downplaying the importance of meds?? Tell me where it says it is a choice to go on meds and being critical of anyone on meds?
For the record I was diagnosed bipolar1 rapid cycler w/psychosis. Please don't insult me by saying either I don't have bp that is why I "favor" being med free or support anyone that does.
I have my reasons for not being on meds as do others with bp.
I'm so done ....
.
Don't be mad....we're all in this Bipolar shit together.
Ya know what I'm going to go into time out before I say shit I shouldn't say... Goodnight
I consulted with psychiatrists before I went off the meds, so I know there will be no court orders. i feel I can live a functional life without meds, and I have done pretty well.
in my case, I had a breakdown because of my uncle attacking me when I was 17, and I feel I have dealt with those issues. I believe recovery is possible. I believe some bipolar people can get off meds for periods of time.
Even with them I have a hard time sometimes (like today).
MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry your having a hard time today! (((hugs)))
Maybe I can trade this illness if for something else? Like diabetes, that doesn't seem so bad.
I know I'll get better. I just hate this so very much. I want to think clearly and feel "normal" not jumpy, jittery, angry, depressed, fed up, insecure and who knows what else! Bipolar meds don't really work that well do they?
But thank you Banshee!!!
