I found myself losing it in February. I was in severe pain when to ER and given Oxycodone, Dilaudid and then hydrocodone later by my GP.
Pardon my language and this is just my opinion mind you and my experience those drugs did a real big time mind fuck on me. I went straight down hill from there. It was hell.
I have also been on Fentanyl, Morphine,Demerol, and I don't know what else. Muscle relaxers yes can't take Flexeril (not an opiate anyway) due to it making my sleep apnea worse.
In short all the opiates I have had were, I thought, very good at the time (took the pain away) however the crash mentally was and is not worth it to me.
I was on 15 mg of hydrocodone (generic Vicodin) for six weeks after surgery and that did a real mind fuck on me as well. The dosage was tow 7.5 mg pills 3 or 4 times daily (forget which). Four times I think actually.
Anyway Seroquel is helping me to get stable again. I am feeling better just this past week.
I am only sharing my experience with those drugs, Everyone is different and you may have a different experience than I did.
I would keep tabs on moods and such but that is just my opinion. I'm not a doctor.
I never really had a problem with oral morphine (10mg tabs) as it took the pain away and that was all. The side effects were unpleasant and I decided to step down to percocet which is where the problems started. In addition to taking the pain away Percocet gave me a buzz, kind of like being kissed by God or being wrapped up in a sunny warm blanket. The feeling was incredible but unfortunately it never lasted and like Java the crash wasn't mentally worth it. Took a long time to get off them.
For you I'd be really concerned about mixing opiates and muscle relaxers. I was gambling mixing perc's with klonopin, 1000's of people die from these combo's, I consider myself fortunate I didn't. I imagine it would be the same with muscle relaxers so if you do choose that route be very careful.
