Wow. So yeah.... had a psych evaluation today because my case is up for review with disability and it left me questioning.
He was an older gentleman, stern in manner. He was not mean or anything but with a lot of the questions he asked me I felt that like I was only allowed to give very incomplete answers. Like when he asked me my mental conditions..... my first response was of course Bipolar 1 and then when I went to tell him about the PTSD and new diagnosis of Social Anxiety disorder, he just cut me off and moved on to the next question. HE began to ask about my anxiety issues that I am having lately and I started my answer with anxiety and difficulty with going outside of my house and I was cut off again! I did not get to fully answer about the angry explosions, or the fear of talking to new people, or any of the several other symptoms that I have had.
I just left feeling like he only knew like a quarter of what I go through on a daily basis. I am not sure what to do at the moment. Do I just let it go? Do I call my case worker and tell her that I felt the evaluation was too vague to be used? With the little information that he does have, I do not see how that could possibly be a proper evaluation for something like disability. I am not sure where to go from here.
I tried to even explain to him that I am in the after math of the exposure therapy that I have just been through and he just did not want to heart it apparently.

Good luck. I know this disability stuff is agonizing. The government is so ponderous and slow and relentless. It's always worth it when that direct deposit SSDI comes in though.
