Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I've been on this for 10+ years, thought it was doing me good because I felt more balanced. Less depressed for sure. In the last few weeks I think this Prozac is not the solution for me. I seem to actually have more of an issue with mania, like anxious all the time. My doctor prescribed me to double the dose and take a mood stablizer, but when I doubled the dose it seems like the anxiety grew to uncontrollable proportions and the feeling of high blood pressure. The MS is said to take some time to feel the effects.
Has anyone else felt like they were dosing too far in one direction or the other depression vs. mania? How did you dial it in if that is even possible. This condition has very likely killed my marriage, and I don't want it to kill me either. I guess I'm glad the mania doesn't trigger violence, but it does trigger all kinds of other feelings that eventually eat at me so much I fall back into depression.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

It might be worth checking what you mean by mania, to me it's having delusions, hallucinating, rapid speech, jumping from one thing to another. It's not anxiety. Even hypomania will include rapid speech, agitation, unable to sleep, going from one thing to another, risky behaviour, warped thinking.
Even adding a mood stabilizer often won't help and I suspect that doubling the prozac is a very unwise move..your doctor is a qualified psychiatrist?
When did you get a diagnosis of bipolar? And who made it?
What mood stabilizer is it?
I'd get a second opinion and appropriate treatment asap, this could escalate quickly.
What I am calling mania is probably more so anxiety, but at a level that is constant in me from sun up to sun down lately. I used to calm this anxiety with alcohol for probably the last 4 years. I have quite this nightly drinking for about 6 weeks now.
The mood stabilizer is Divalproex Sodium. 250mg right now
However, it triggers extreme reactions in some people and it was found to trigger previously undiagnosed bipolar in others.
I can't understand why if you were diagnosed with bipolar why you would have been put on prozac alone. At the very least it is likely to be the source of your anxiety, at worst it will trigger mania.
But you've not confirmed that you actually have a diagnosis of bipolar and if so, who made that determination. A general physician can't make that diagnosis.
Alcohol won't help and if you are honest with a psychiatrist it might prevent them making a diagnosis.
Still lots of questions and I don't understand but I would start again, get a proper diagnosis and go from there.
