So my mother came to visit while she was sick and gave me a cold which made my asthma flare and I ended up spendign 3 days in the hospital on IV Solumedrol (heavy duty prednisone), now I am on 60mgs a day for awhile. I feel completely loopy, I can barely walk straight let alone think straight. But without the prednisone I can't breath. I am at work for a half day but I'm not getting anythign done cause I can;t think. Anyone else had experiences with prednisone and are there any alternatives?

I would talk to your doc who prescribed the Prednisone and see if they can change it for something that won't effect you that way. There are inhaled corticosteroids and bronchodilators that could be tried and would be less likely to cause mania.

my neurologist was treating my migraines with prednisone, til the last 10 day course made me manic for 3 weeks, now I do botox to prevent them...I'll never take that stuff again

Mania and panic for me. I agree with Bbrig, you should see if there is something you can inhale instead. Hugs!

My doctor prescribed me that for and ear infection and it was horrible I got so manic I ended up in the hospital. We have to be really careful with steroids.

I was on pred for an autoimmune condition and for shoulder problems. I don't tolerate it well, doesn't matter what the dosage is. It makes me feel so incredibly euphoric all the time. It's effective short term if you can handle it psychologically but it really isn't good for you in the long term.

Maybe you can cut back on some of your psychic meds? At least until your OK with prednisone.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
