I grad a glass of water I go the the bathroon and have a little pill box from my purse and take my meds.

If i have to I will use my hand as a water scooper from the sink

I use to do that..but why put myself threw all that feel like im hiding who i am..instend of just taken them how i would everyday..i guess why do I feel the need to protect other people on the fear they mite have

haven't you ever been out tho and forgot to them but ur aware they r all there sitting in ur bag and all u have to do is take ur pills and then u don't have to think about it all day or until ur next pill

I would think you would be protecting yourself from stigma and not protecting others from you

i take my meds at home or as dy said go to the toilet and take them i don't do it in front of everyone no

im use to the stigma people have..I dont care..I do care they will be scared away because of there not knowing..so in away yes but also no its not about the stigma as im too use to it all my teenage life and into my 20s now it means nothing..you say bipolar they think crazy i dont care that u think im crazy ..i can be..but i do care that ur sacred of me cuz u dont no better

I take mine as usual and so far no complaints, I do however make sure they are secure from children.
I carry my list with me and the pills are secured with it.
just in case someone needs it and I can't talk.
Other than that I make no excuses for me needing to be on them.
Most of my friends know how I am.

i never put myself at risk & I carry a list of all my meds/inhalers (i get the list frum my drug store) and it has my allergy's too..and what i still have for refills..i alway keep my clorazpate on me and inhaler..my daily meds i keep at home or have in a med box..i have no kids to worrie about when im around children my bag is up away frum them. if had kids they would alway be in the child proof bottle..wow off topic

I say that if you don't want to scare people off don't put yourself out there. I mean this is something that you either have to except or change in you. So you don't care if you dont' care then you shouldn't care about scaring people off that comes with the territory. You care how people are going to react to you so change your approach...

No one sees me these days, but back when I worked and would sometimes be asked what they were for, I liked saying 'Because I'm deranged.' or sometimes, 'They're to keep me from going crazy.'
I always joked around a lot at work and so most of them just thought I was kidding.
But I've got to say that practically everyone in the place was on some kind of anxiety or depression med!!! It's amazing how many people are medicated!!!

I have been on medication consistantly for over two years now. At first I was nervoud about taking them aroud peopleI didnt know.
I grew used to it though. I guess I just figured that they help so much that I need not care what anyone else thinks. It was a little easier on me bthough because everyone knew I was crazy before I was diagnosed. lol.
Look at it this way. Taking your pills are benificial to you and you are doing what you need to make yourself functional and to help to heal yourself, well as much as you can be healed. You are doing hat is best for you and there are hundreds of people out there who dont take their pills and dont help themselves. Those are the ones you run into that say "there ain't nothin wrong with me" and you just know they are not right. lol.
You are doing the right thing. pardon my language but f*&$ what everyone else thinks.
You could always have a little fun with it if people do stare.....
You could do little neck twitches or go up to the ones that you noticed were staring and say in a little inquisitive voice....."Do you have any idea why a rave is like a writting desk?" and then just simply walk away. It will take their mind off the fact that you just took pills.
Yes it may make people think that we are ll nuts, but remember ignorance is a choice and if they woiuld rather label someone then educate themselves and understand, then they deserve to be frieked out.

I am fortunate enough that I don't have to take my meds in front of others. If I need to take a PRN, I usually run to the bathroom. My ativan are so small that I can swallow them without water.

I did have to take one in front of a state trooper this summer. That was awkward.
