Marya Hornbecher. I really got alot out of it. Same with Kay Jiameson's "An unquiet mind." Both are biographies of people with bipolar.

thanks Chugg..i signed up...love her books! As good as most of these bipolar (female) stars look..Patty, Linda Hamilton.etc...sorry don;t think they are on lith..I had weight gain, etc..you sure don;t see that on them. I know Patty Duke took it when 1st diagnosed..it's just weird how they don't gain an ounce.

Reading her story helped me when I was first diagnosed get a grasp on how I could manage to exist with this disorder. If she could do it, I could do it. I could identify with her struggles. it really helped.

A lot of people never gained weight on Lithium. I never did and I've been on it for 23 years.

Theres Kathy whose been most everywhere, from zansabar to barkley square but Pattys only seen the sights a girl can see from Broklyn Hieghts!

I know of this site. Became aware of it about year ago when I saw a documentary a documentary about Patty Duke. Thankyou for sharing.

I was introduced to Lythium years go during one of my earliest hospital visits. One of the first drugs ever made for those suffering with manic/depression. It didn't set well with me, so I was put on Elavil and later Triavil with Thorazine and barbituates for sleep. Those didn't fair well either for me.

When I was a kid I used to LOVE her TV show. So much so that I wrote to her and she sent me back an 8x10 autographed picture. I felt like she was my best friend! How ironic that we would both turn out to be bipolar!

I did too, Dobes!! It was a black and white glossy of her in her flying hat!!

I loved watching her on TV...both shows and in old movies also. I believe the first time i found out she had a mental illness and shared with the public was on the Phil Donahue show. I also saw a movie which was about her or someone who suffered with BP...can't remember exactly.
