Sweetie, I used to work as an executive administrative assistant for a large firm of doctors. When we moved, I stayed home with my boys to raise them. Eventually, I wanted to do something but not return to the 9-5 stress that I knew I could no longer handle.

I started by cleaning houses......I made $20 an hour and approx. $400 a week. Eventually, I turned that into an organizing business that earns quite a bit more than that. There is no shame in cleaning houses and making money doing it, if you are good at it.

I loved it because the hours were flexible, part time and I could be home with my kids when they were. Just a thought

I clean an old age home..5 hours a shift one week i work two days the next week i work 5 day..3oo and sumthing but i feel i could do more..

I worked about 20 hours a week, which was my limit then with kids. It takes some energy but it is great exercise as you know yourself, it is alot of moving constantly. I loved it.....I love what I do now, limited contact with the people, no crowds, and good money. Why wouldnt that be a good thing for you to monopolize on? I have a friend who has a cleaning business that she started out just herself. She bought a home in Florida with the money she makes.

with that experience, too you might be able to do the hotel maid thing, but you'll probably get better pay and conditions if you can just stick to doing it yourself with no hotel employer or anything, and they tend to be demanding too.

I have always thought it to be harsh and unfair that if people are fully mentally challenged, that there are at least a few jobs for them where they take their special needs into account, but why are there no special jobs for people with other learning problems or psychiatric problems? We just get fired for incompetence. They could just as easily do the same for us, explain things more than once, not freak out when we don't get it the first couple of times, understand that our mood swings make it hard for us to do a really good job sometimes, things like that. I knew a guy that was bipolar and AD/HD, and he got a job working at a thrift store where all the proceeds went to help mentally challenged adults and the families that support them. This guy needed a few reminders and better explanations, but he was really intelligent, but he ends up getting fired, even though he worked right alongside those other guys that had to be helped each step of the way. Why can't ALL of people's special needs be recognized? Why is that only for SOME people?

Anyway, I agree with what you and your pdoc and what Shelly is suggesting----anything that you can do on your own is gonna be less stressful. Mean managers that love to yell at people really helped to mess up my confidence and skills as a worker early on.

my boss is my family friend but i feel she exptects alot of me and im letting her down..reply 8 wow the u have to expaln things more then once and the some day u just cant do as good of a job..I mean..i feel like its an exces but its not..sumdays its to hard well not hard...but ah!..I work alone now cleaning but theres always people around and crazy old people i love to chat with use to make the job live able..then they started to ask me about presonal life(WORKERS) I would explan im bipolar.. thinking there neruse they'll understand OH ya they understand they think i should be fired cuz i need help they are worried for me..so fire me i'll be much better off then! i also cleaned huge houses, with my parents, and sister. it is hard work, but the money can be real good.

I think the suggestion to clean homes is a good fit for you... you already have skills in the area cleaning an old age home and you have a possible target market.. many of these seniors may know seniors who live on their own and would need a house cleaner and/or their families... capitalize on the networking opportunity you have there... I know a few people that do this and they agree its hard work but you are your own boss and can arrange your own schedule... good luck... ((hugs)) polar
