For the first time today. My mom had a baby boy 47 years ago and had to place him up for adoption. My sister had placed some info on an adoption registry site and well, we all found each other and today's the big meet.
I'm really not feeling much of anything though and not sure what the hell is going on with me. I'm not feeling much at all for ANYthing or ANYbody today.....I'm really in a place that I don't understand to well atm. I'm going through the motions of another blah day.....that is how it feels to me anyway.
Geez you would think I'd be excited ya know? But there isn't an excited bone in my body......shutdown, disconnected, bored, oh so freaking bored these days. Where dd the times go where I woke up with plans to do things and actually looked forward to the day?? I think my boat has sailed far, far away and left me behind....

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

Just go through the motions Tats and fake it till you make it. Focus all your attention to your new found brother and you won't be so centered on what you are not feeling.
I know it's hard as hell to function like this but you can do it AND you will feel better about yourself for doing it!!
Can't wait to hear how it goes for you. Want a full report when you get back.
Love and hugs
i hope you have a great visit. that is very exciting. wow!!!
I sure am hoping to "pep up" some before I meet him.
Sword will give you full report when I get in tonight! lol
Mojo I hear ya but I'm not even on an AP atm so wth???
*shrugs*
And please let us know how it goes...xo
So just make the effort to get to know him a bit. You may like him or not. I left the biological father of my first son when he was 4. He had no contact with him till his 20's. He was very excited, but realized what a complete jerk and idiot he was. So no bonding, and he was grateful for the father who adopted him, my husband. Even his half brother, who is also an electrical engineer didn't excite him too much. He feels like he is not a "real" brother like the ones he was raised with.
My DIL found her long lost half sister. She came away with a better idea who her biological father was. But she is not really in contact with her now.
So maybe you are just protecting yourself from what may be a disappointment. On the other hand, you may be pleasantly surprised. Again, just give it a chance and you will get to know him a bit. I bet he barely picks up on the way you are feeling. Good luck!
How long have you known you've had a sibling out there before you found him? This is pretty cool.
I think it's easy to expect a Hallmark movie version of what's about to go down but, in real life, these events are usually much more low key.
I've experienced a couple of things in the last year that I thought should have generated a little more emotion or reaction on my part (a wedding and a wedding cancellation). I was surprised at how chill I was and started to get a bit frustrated with myself. And then I acknowledged that I could be flipping out. Decided chill was much better than flipping out.
I hope you have a nice time with your family today. :)
Well, I met a wonderful man, my half brother, and his precious and lovely family, a wife and 2 children!! My mother bonded with all of them...I was so happy to see that! And so did my sister and I....I was pleasantly surprised, had a great visit and actually got tearful when saying goodbye to him. He's had a good life, and has made a good life for himself and his family. We actually look alot alike which blew me away for some reason!! *smile*
To answer some questions I have known about him for about 25 years now. My sister put up some info on an adoption registry website and one day out of the blue, my brother answered with all sorts of info about my mother, no doubts it was him at all!
We are planning to meet again and going to be keeping in touch....I'm real happy for my mother most of all. Words can't describe this day and I am more than happy that it came to be! :-)
Maybe you were just in self-preservation mode...we get hurt in so many different ways, so often, sometimes we protect ourselves unconciously.
I'm very happy that you were able to meet your bro and his family, I hope he is a happy, loving and understanding addition to your life. I hope that you guys have plenty of opportunities to spend time together and get to know one another.
