I have noticed on other posts about Sleep Apnea, that their are quite a few people on here who suffer from this and are on C-pap machines.

I have known for sometime that I have it, but have to go for a sleep study test before I can get treatment.

I do not sleep well at all when I'm in unfamiliar surroundings, so after all that here comes my question LOL.

When you are going in for the sleep study do they give you a sleep aide or does it have to be a natural sleep?

When my boyfriend had one he had his pdoc prescribe him special sleep aids in order to go to sleep.

My friend was allowed to bring her normal sleep meds. Also she was offered a script for some ativan if she wanted to fill it beforehand.

they let me take my sleep aid so I'm guessing that they do.

Boy if you already can't sleep in strange surroundings you will really have problems. You HAVE to sleep on your back and you can barely move, there are so many wires they put on you, they also keep waking you up all night because wires fall off.

but you have to do what you have to do.

OR you can ask your doctor about doing a home sleep study if you feel like you can't do in the lab. The home sleep studies are a whole lot cheaper. Depending on your doctor you probably get this done. It is not very hard and it will be enough for insurance to cover a unit.

They gave me an Ambien once, and then another time I did a home sleep study, so there are options. :)
