So I've noticed and influx of anime avatars lately! Well I do realize that some people use anime pictures for their avatars even when they aren't fans of it them selves.
Just curious though how many anime fans are around these days?
Me I read way more manga then I watch anime. Probably because it's a lot cheaper and easier for me to find. I don't see stores that carry a whole lot of anime. Even less that they carry shoujo. It's always main stream or robot tenticle sex.
I like my romantic shoujo and Yaoi.
I do like some shounen as well but nothing that's main stream yet.

As far as anime goes it just the japanese word for animation. In japan all animation is anime but in america it means japanese animation. Manga isn't that different it's just in graphic novel form instead of animated. Most anime is based on the graphic novels any how.
But korean manga "manhwa" is still sold as manga in the book stores. I also enjoy korean work as well.
I think manga is the japanese form of the word magazine but I could be wrong on that one.
Shoujo is girl and shounen is boy.
Honestly not much of the good stuff is getting into our country these days. I have a hard time finding things I like. But then again I've read so much manga that some of them are really just the same story I've already seen over and over again.
And for people reading this that don't really know what manga or anime is about it's not all tentacle porn and sci-fi. Actually most of those 1980's genre have disappeared from the shelves. There is a lot of romance, comedy and slice of life out there as well. In fact there are as many genres of manga as their are TV shows.

I was reading Pavane of a dead girl but it seems like tokyo pop has bit the dust. Which upsets me as there were quite a few really good stories that got discontinued that I was following. I'd tell you what they were except that my daughter wiped out my shelf. She loves manga also and when I'm done reading it she takes it with her to school. Which I don't mind since my shelf needs room for new volumes.
But I do have to watch what she takes because I love yaoi which is vary rarely sold in the U.S. but I do have a few. I think it's either because of homophobia or they don't want to carry things of a sexual nature. Still it doesn't seem like it will matter as most of the book stores around here are going out of business. I like shopping in the store but I guess I'll have to start using Amazon from now on.

Also I find that for some reason manhwa releases very slowly some times years and often one or two books make it to the shelf before they get discontinued.
I do cheat and read it online for free once in a while but I still buy my favorite titles once they hit the shore. But as far as yaoi goes you pretty much have to read it online since that's the only place you can find it. And I get annoyed when people confuse it with boy love. It's more pornarific than boy love. True yaoi pretty much has sex by the third page LOL! and either no story at all or one that doesn't really make sense any how LOL!
The reason I find it annoying is because when I go to look for yaoi I wind up stuck with boy love since too many people can't tell the difference. If it has a story and is about a relationship it's boy love. If it's straight up porn it's yaoi. How hard is that? LOL yeah I know I'm a sick puppy blah blah blah!
I was once grossed out by yaoi too. But it was like a train wreck I couldn't stop looking at it. Now I'm addicted too it!
