We love Aldi's for produce. I like to go about once a month and stock up because it's about an hour away.

My first Aldi trip was truly vexing. We start checking out and the lady started putting all our groceries back in the buggy. We are just standing there like dumbasses, looking to see if the other one understands. "Don't we get a bag?" Hahaha!! She goes, yeah you can buy one or bring your own. Was a great trip and a good time was had by all - after we went to the little counters on the wall and bagged our groceries.

Can't wait to see what they have in the winter months.

Had to rely on internet searching to figure out what Stollen was.

There is also Save-A-Lot. Not as good as Aldi's but they do have bargains. I always get the gravy mixes...mushroom, pork, chicken. They're only 50 cents a piece!!

There's an Aldis right down the street. I never think to go there. DAMN!!

I did hear that the meat there wasn't very good.

I get staples there....sugar, flour, salt, eggs, butter, milk, crackers, jellies, olives...and the list goes on.
You have to try thier stuff and then you can decide what you'll get.
Marinated artichokes are great, as are their soups.
I get corned beef there and kielbasa. And cheeses.
And paper products. I'm picky about meat so I just get the 2 above, the rest I get at regular supermarkets.

The Stollen is really good around Christmas time ;-)

I usually pick up 3 or 4 and freeze them. I usually make my own Stollen but sometimes there isn't enough time and I can't go w/o Stollen. It's also nice sliced up and toasted w/butter on it!

I don't think we have Aldi in Canada...well we don't in the province I live in. Is it like Walmart?

Not really. It's a very small grocery store. Very basic. They don't even bag for you! You have to buy the bags and there is a counter where you can get that done. No shelve, items are in boxes and they're all stacked up. that's why they're so cheap - no frills!!
