Hi. I haven't written here in about a week. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 Bipolar (about 3 weeks ago) after a manic reaction to an antidepressant. I was on Lamictal, and a slew of other shorter-acting things (Seroquel, Abilify, etc.) However, nothing could stop the high energy and "bounciness" and so last Thursday, my pdoc said to stop everything except some Clonazepam at night for sleep (doesn't work). Now, not only am I very hyper, but also back to being really depressed. It seems my mind has just turned on me.. everything makes me think of something that upsets me, and I've spent most of the last few days either angry, or crying, or both. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? What did you do?! I am struggling to keep it together. My pdoc is waiting for me to see another pdoc this Thursday (for a 2nd opinion I guess) and then will proceed from there. But I'm worried I won't make it through the next few days! It's so hard not to fall apart all the time! Any tips/advice? Thanks,

if it gets too heavy and too much to handle, please get yourself to a hospital. i'm glad you're seeing a new pdoc, because the other one sounds negligent.

they're probably going to try a whole new med combo thursday, so please keep yourself safe until then. the next med(s) you try may make a HUGE difference in your life, so try and keep the hope alive.

Every time I have been hospitalized they do a big time change of my meds. Hang in there and hopefully it will get it better this time.
I was in a state that you're describing before and was put on Perphenazine for a bit and it brought me down fairly quickly.

The meds do take weeks to work, and even make you/me feel WORSE taking the foriegn substance the first couple weeks! So what might be a miracle drug, you might puke the first week taking it!!!!
You do have to give meds a few weeks for your system to get used to them and adjust your moods - there is no quick acting, long term solution - its trial and error, and treating the symptoms!!!!

Would she like to be in your shoes? Dooes she work for herself or for a clinic? maybe a doctor inher clinic could beanother resoucrce.
This really a poor situation. I would call ahospital and name names and put myself in. If the new doctor was ifiliated with that ospital it would be best to go there too.
