Yes, I do. I'm not on meds and it happens quite frequently. When I shift out of depression, I tend to fixate on the novel that I'm trying to write. For days it'll become the only thing I seem to think about. I end up with more notes than actual writing. I always seem to change and never seem to get anywhere with it. Then down the road, it takes a turn as I become more depressed and I stop writing.

And again it happens all over again. A vicious cycle.

I have that problem too. I still have that problem now that I'm on meds to a certain extent, but I'm able to somewhat control it. That problem was a lot worse before the meds got embedded into my bloodstream. It does sound like OCD, but it isn't. People with bipolar disorder may or may not have elements of OCD as well as schizophrenia and other miscellaneous disorders. I hope that helps somewhat.

Oh and if I meet someone, I obsess with thinking about what their reaction was to me. I wonder if it was good or not. Or if I happen to say something to someone and it comes out wrong or I get a different response when expected, I start thinking about what I could have said instead or why they reacted they way they did. I end up never falling asleep because of this.

And... sometimes a word will pop into my head and I can't stop repeating it. Not sure if that falls under this, but it just came to me.

I am on meds but I do it periodically. I have to readjust my focus or come to a solution so I can shift my focus. Hugs

Yes, I do and it usually ends up costing me money. I've figured out it only happens during a hypomanic phase for me.

I obsess about a LOT of things. I have done it for as long as I can remember.

Like Rubyblue, it happens with medication, because I always take my meds, and it still happens!

I obsess when I am down - part of my depression symptoms.

I obssess about everything..I am addict/alcoholic, bipolar...Like zack said people with this disorder have certain elements of it OCD....I am on meds but I still obsess its just not as long and I try to shift my focus to something else and think about something else. Its hard to do at times. at least for me it is....

I also obssess about things to the point of it making me hugely anxious. Dont think it is normal geting that obssessed.

I obssess about my health, money,going out, and when I am in an artistic mood I obssess about that either.

oh yes and I do what Shelly says. I think you can be Obsessive but not OCD. Obsessive would be the thinking without the action.

I can be obsessive. I collect stuff. I'm on a big skull and crossbones kick right now. Been on this kick for a while though. I have a big skull and crossbones tattooed on my upper middle back.

It happens to me too. It's more fun during a hypomanic stage. The latest thing for me is the newest Batman movie. I obsessed over it. Saw it 4 times in the first 10 days, bought a movie poster with the Joker on it and "Why so Serious?" written in it. I have also painted "Why so Serious?" on a wall in my house. I am still fixated on it to a degree. Just not as bad. This is just weird, because I generally do not like Batman. Hmmmm - go figure
