Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I have a friend who was with me when it happened and I was shopping, couldn't stop talking like crazy, she found my hubby and told him, they took me to the docs and he put me on meds and told me if I do that again I was going to go to the hospital.
The second time was at Christmas and trying to deal with family I cried and cried and cried, I couldn't stop. Doc put me back on meds and I have been OK since but I do wonder if I stop again then what??? I really don't want to find out.

With that said, I know it's a gamble and I have a wonderful support system and I am "happier" without the meds. Time will tell if that will always stay my reality.
Everyone needs to do what they feel is best for them and truthfully some days I wonder if I should go back on them . Good luck.
I used to have VERY long periods of depression followed up by three months stretches of mania and vice versa.
I would not suggest going without meds.
I was told I was a bp1 classification.
no depression.
I don't like meds.
I chose meds, I don't want to chance losing my kids over the med vs. no med issue.
I have been off meds before, thats another story...... lets just say, I lost custody over my kids....enough said.
Means a lot to hear about your experiences!!

Something just told me that the Abiilfy was working against me and causing more harm then good, I weaned very slowly though, no cold turkey BS, because these Ap's are very strong meds and I didn't want any problems. The same thing happened with the Lamictal I was taking for a few years.....I had a feeling it wasn't helping so I weaned from that too.....and began to feel better.
I only speak for myself here, I feel better, my memory seems to be improving alot, my motor skills better and as I mentioned I FEEL better. Some of these meds tend to cause the very problems that we start taking them for......I feel in my case that is exactly what happened.
I struggle some days.....with anxiety mostly but I am learning to put it in it's place and not let it tear through me and ruin an entire day like it used to. Staying mindful is key, it's like we have to stay one step ahead of how we are choosing to think about things......mindfulness and staying in the moment is detrimental to our health!
I wish you the best on your journey Katten.....the answers will come to you.....just have to listen to yourself!
Mmmmm listen to myself... but what if Myself says different things..?
Anyway, THANK YOU!!!
