Hello all,
I was just recently diagnosed with Being bipolar. This is very new to me and has been hard to accept. I also struggle with depression, anxiety, ptsd and adhd. It makes things very difficult in my head. I have been on multiple different medications throughout the years to try and help but was only recently diagnosed with bipolar. I was taking Prozac and Zoloft for a very long time and they made me feel crazy. I was very suicidal. Just recently I was put on abilify and then rexolti along with adderal. First abilify was great but then I crashed hard. I’m not sure if this of meds is good enough for me. Some days I feel like I can do anything and then others I just am so restless but can’t get out of bed. Does anyone have any recommendations for how to deal with this or any meds that have really helped you? I also am suffering from a large amount of weight gain. I’ve always been a bigger girl, but over the past few months I’ve gained a lot of weight. I’m trying to figure out a balance so I don’t keep getting worse.
Thank you in advance for any advice or encouragement me

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Personally after being on a high dose of lithium that didn't work out, I'm now on lamotrigine which is particularly good for the depression side and is generally weight neutral. It is a mood stabilizer so it reduces both highs and lows but if the highs start I add Seroquel - that definatly isn't weight neutral but then I only take it for a few dayas every two months or so so it's not too bad.
Are you seeing a psychiatrist for diagnosis and meds?
Adderal is an amphetamine, speed and I think would be terrible for bipolar disorder.... No wonder you're all wound up.....
I would ask for a second opinion if it were me...... I have never heard of anyone with bipolar taking this before...... Gentle hug.... This is a good place too come.......xo
I'm new to bipolar myself, diagnosed bipolar 1 in Oct '17. I started with abilify and it gave me akathesia anx did nothing to calm the mania. I then went to geodon and it snapped me right back to reality without letting me get too low. But the drowsiness was so bad I went off of it. I then spiraled into a depression and started rexulti. Other than the weight gain from it, it's been a life saver for me. I'm also on lamictal and trileptal; mood stabilizers. I too was on prozac and zoloft before being diagnosed.
I wish you luck on finding the right meds for you.
