Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I, I am new to this board. I have been bipolar for many years, but many times the symptoms were small and were below my notice. Everything changed in Oct 2017. I ended up with severe stress over my career, heart, and family. I attempted suicide three times. The first two were trial runs, but number three landed me in the ER, where I was watched firmly and then committed to a local mental health hospital for three days. Got out of there and then had to try and explain it to my work. I went downhill from May to June and eventually, I arrived at my PDoc and TDoc telling them, "I need more." I was then voluntarily committed for three weeks. There the docs changed around everything on my meds. I am still going with this mix with a few changes.
Just this year alone, I have 48 days of hospitalization in the ICU or the mental health hospital, seven surgeries on my heart, eight trips to the ER, two ambulance rides, and one heart attack. And before this, all started I had never been involved in almost anything medical.
So after all the care in the hospital, I am sliding down that slope again into depression. Many of the issues lie unresolved or have gotten worse. I still have a significant transition later this year, and there is tension on that. Just wanted to shout into the wilderness in the hopes of a sympathetic ear.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

Baby steps and a gentle hug..... This is a good place to come.... xo
I understand that depression is a symptom of heart problems so it didn't surprise me to hear that you had both.
I truly hope that you can find some stability and peace through the adjustment of your meds and hopefully some therapy.
I also hope that you can arrange to take a sabbatical from your job so that you can spend time just recuperating from the whirlwind of mental and physical health problems.
