Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Hi all,
One of my last posts was all about how proud I was to be managing my Bipolar without medication. Well, a few things were brought to light and happened all at once. Long story short I decided to work with a phychiatrist to find a mix of medications that works for me. I am rellay excited but also scared. I don't like getting my blood drawn. I am scared to embark on this journey. However, I have an okay support group and it's getting better everyday.
It got to a point where either I was going to kill myself, or I was going to get serious about getting well and being stable. Fortunately I have access to mental health care and I am extremely lucky. Anyways, what are your experiences with medication? Specifically, AntiPsychotics and Lithium.
much love

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
There are any number of med combinations and its hard to compare one person's success to anothers, one of the true mysteries of this Disease. Myself, I become very easily medication tolerant and I've had BiPolar Disorder for 28 years along with multiple other major medical illnesses, so I've had to switch meds around quite a bit...it's a pain in the ass, but a choice of, like you said, "killing yourself or getting serious about getting well and being stable." Its a choice that everyone has to make, not always an easy one. Managing this Disease is a daily struggle, it doesn't go away, but you can have a successful, productive, happy a good deal of the time, life when you get Stable. Each person has to decide what it's worth to them to fight for that...
Congrats to you for joining the fight!
I now used lithium orotate with good success but that part of the story is part of the difficulty I've had with finding decent psychiatric/medical practicioners. Good on you, to thine own self be true.
I had a toxic reaction to Lithium as well
Thanx for mentioning Latuda Book.....I think it's more weight neutral... I may talk to my pdoc about it the next time I see him... He mentioned it before to me but I didn't want to change at the time
