Hey guys. I posted a few weeks back about ability and my insurance company wouldn't approve it. I feel like I was afraid to take it anyway so maybe its better off. I'm going to try neurontin now and I've heard good and bad. Was wondering if anyone was on this for their bipolar and how it affected them. I heard weight loss is a big side effect. My doctor said its very good for anxiety which is great for me as well but I alsobhope it helps with my dad pressive and manic moods. I just wanted some feedback from anyone taking it. Greatly appreciated, everyone!

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

The studies I've seen suggest it can be useful in conjunction with "proper" Bipolar meds but not a replacement. Not sure how long ago this was written (from Webmd) but it seems a bunch of meds that are being prescribed have yet to prove their value in dealing with Bipolar itself.
"Other anticonvulsants, such as Trileptal (oxcarbazepine), Neurontin (gabapentin) and Topamax (topiramate) have not been established as having anti-manic or antidepressant properties, but they are sometimes considered experimental treatments in bipolar disorder. Some of these medicines may have value for other types of psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety, pain, or binge eating."
I take it for 2 reasons. Primarily, I take a low dose at bedtime to help me sleep, but as you can see it's after 1 am and here I am... Secondarily, it's another med that will help with my anxiety along with the others I take.
I hope it works for you. Sometimes things we don't expect to work because they don't seem to make sense, do anyway. Fingers crossed for you.
worse. It's like taking Tylenol that stops me from crying. The first few times you feel kind of weird but that stops pretty quick.
Best wishes, (((hugs))) get to feeling better soon. :)
