Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Did you have emotions and motivation before the diagnosis?
as far as the sleeping disorder, my doctor told me that bi polar often is accompanied with sleeping disorders. Although the passing out randomly is pretty new. When I told him that it wasn't really like any bi polar I've heard of he insisted that it was bi polar and that some times bi polar changes into something never seen before. I didn't quite understand his explanation but he was just a regular medical doctor so I think he just didn't want to undermine the psychiatrist's diagnosis.
As for my psychiatrist she only see's me for 15 mins at a time so I'm not sure how well she grasp's what exactly is going on. I've asked many times to be institutionalized but she insists I try this new medication before going.
sorry I can't think of anything else. You really have had a tough time.
Hugs, MG
Not sleeping is a major sign for me that mania is coming, so I use sleep medication to try prevent it. But you don't get the mania and you don't get the depression, you seem stuck in the middle with nothing but sameness.
All I can suggest is to keep a daily record and detailed description of it to tell your pdoc in 3 weeks and make her listen to how it is for you.
Hopefully someone else has some suggestions. Best of luck!
In my experience this is a symptom of depression and even though you may not experience the traditional high they come in all forms. My mother is also bipolar and her mania's are so mild it is simply happiness. I assume you are in America so it may be difficult to get treatment if you have lost the motivation to maintain your lifestyle
Much of it can be alleviated by the things that you do and the way that you think. There is plenty of info on the net, but if you need help I can point you in some of the directions that helped me to deal with it and roll with the punches. Love and courage. xxxx
