Hi. I know how annoying it is to get these kinda posts when we have such a large amount of info. on the net, but I need to know if anyone is taking or has taken Risperidone. I have been on Lithium for a couple of months by itself....saw my pdoc today and wants me to start taking this new med tonight to see if it will help with the LIthium. I read up on it but wanted to get first hand from other bp'ers about side effects if any and if it has helped or not. I am not thrilled about being on any meds but I can't continue into the newyear feeling like I do....aaaahhh!!!! Thanks and Happy Holidays to all of you.

I took it for awhile and it worked great. Hope it works well for you. I'm on Invega now which is basically the same thing, only newer. And I hope you have a fantastic holiday!

I was started out on it. Doc wanted me on Lithium but had to wait for my labs for my throid so gave me the Risp. I liked it and wanted to stay on it. But due to the cost (no insurance) he switched me to Lithium after labs (you have to keep up the labs the whole time you take it).

But now I'm on Lamitcal (no labs, but have to watch out for a skin rash) by my request because Lithium, tho it worked, it caused me to gain 70 lbs in 3 yrs. Also am just now starting Topamax (no labs) to try and lose the weight.

Whewww. gotta love the cocktails we get.

Diff. drugs cause diff. side effects to each of us.

I took it for awhile. It worked really well. It helped me calm down very well! Good Luck!

I now take resperidone, also called respirdil with my mood stabalizer lamictal. The two together have kept me well balanced and away from psychotic mania. I love my respirdil. It makes me feel safe....
