Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Are any of you on Natural Supplements or Treatments for Bipolar? I'd really like to get away from prescriptions, Lamictal, Seroquel, Cymbalta,Trazodone, Ativan.

Well there seems to be an ongoing debate between naturopaths and MDs about the correct approach to BP. I truly believe that there isn't a natural remedy to control BP...and if there was...supplements aren't regulated. You wouldn't know how strong the herbs were from one bottle to the next. This could conceivably put you on an emotional tail spin....so will coming down the prescrips you're taking. Supplements can help both on or off meds. I take Carlson's Cod liver oil, quality (not centrum!)multi-vitamin, eutherococcos and B12.

i believe that everyone is different. just like you need differnt meds to regularte your mood with every person who has bipolar,. everyone person is diferent with the treatment that they need. i believe SOME people ( the lucky ones ) can function with natural supplements , if they have the attitude and determination. along with all other things related ( healthy diet, exercise , nutrition, support, regular support groups and any other alternative medicine you use) but then again this is compllient with the severity of your disease and how wel u can cope in reality without drugs in the first place. are u predominantly manic or depressed? do your episodes happen more frequently or far apart? Having a strong and good relationship while you go off meds is very important too. CBT cognitive and neurotherapy does wonders as well.... I have tried thses and i can function alrite . i still have struggles but with medicine i find it to be toxic for my body and mind

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
