I wouldn't do it. You have enough to say grace over. You have your own illness to deal with and you're raising a child with special needs. You have to put yourself and your family first. It's hard to say no though, I know that. But you do what you feel is best for you and your family, okay? Peace and hugs.

Dam thats a tough one Chelle. I would weigh a few things and ask a few questions before giving an answer either way.

How much clean time does she have?
Do you trust her - Will she go to NA without having you have to escort her ? Will she pee clean ect

After you have the answers to those then make your decision based on the facts - Not easy when we are thinking of doing something out of loyality.

I will say tho if you can say honestly that she has at least some clean time behind her and there is some level of trust - based on her actions not your emotions then I would take the chance. We all needed help getting to the other side and if we can give back then by all means I think we should but not at the expense of ourselves

That's the thing, W. I don't trust her to do what she is supposed to do. She has already failed one drug test and ended up in jail a few days over that and has asked me if I had anything since that time. I would rather just not have anything to do with anybody in an authority position such as a damn judge. I have never been to a meeting and am not sober all the time. I smoke occasionally. I am leaning towards telling her that it fills me with anxiety just to think about it and that I can't do it. She needs a sponsor better than me anyways. One who can help her to do what she is supposed to do. That's her problem.........why she wants me..........because she don't wanna do that step work.

Then there is your answer. Give her the anxiety story and say 6 months down the road if she is still clean and doing what the judge and the courts require and is in need of a sponsor revisit the entire situation. Until then keep encouraging her without fucking yourself up or over in the process.

And just thinking here NA/AA has these cards and I am sure the courts have given her some that she can take to the meeting and who ever is leading it can and should be willing to sign off on it that she was in attendence. You turn them in at the beginning of meeting and pick up at the end

If she's still using/relapses you're F*ked eventually. Think of all the desperate late nite/early morning phone calls! They may need help but generally just abuse the hell outta ya by taking advantage of your kindness.

You should not do it. You have never worked the 12 step program for either program. She is picking you because she thinks she can manipulate you infront of the judge. Give her the tough love and say no. She is sick stay away from her.
