my son got a job!

my older son, shane 30yrs old got a job last year after eight years of isolating depression following job loss at the start of the recession. it is so wonderful to hear of him finally out of his room! it is just 20hrs a week but its a good start, baby steps are the best ones and perhaps now all the judgemental family voices will shut the f^^k up and leave him alone! good luck to him.

my second son who is 28 was working as a chef and ended up with depression biting him in the ass too and he had to come home in december but he too is seeing light at the end of the tunnel after some good mama care and is saving his money to go abroad and gain more experience. to see his hope and enthusiasm return is wonderful.

Getting a job is huge! Also keeping the job can be a struggle. It all depends on the people you work with. Congrats for him again.

Thanks chris, he has big problems with self esteem and social anxiety - having been bullied in school and by his father when he was young. he is currently living in his father's house to save money on rent. he doesn't see much of him but when he does see him his dad can be very critical of him. my son is very sensitive. my other son would tell his father where to go in no uncertain terms! he has not spent a night in his father's house for years, he usually stays with his sister if he has to travel to dublin for any reason.

So happy for your son and the whole family as no one knows what it is like to have a child who suffers from depression unless one is in the same situation! Congrats!!!! God Bless!

the one good thing about my bp diagnosis is that as soon as i saw early signs in all three of my children i sought immediate help for them. only one of them has to take intermittent anxiety meds (my daughter) other than that they all use their dbt/cbt skills and an always open phone line to me very well. They're good at seeking help when needed.

That's great sweetie.... Would he consider renting a room somewhere else?.... it's not worth the beat down to save on rent..... Self esteem is so very important..... I'm glad that they're all doing well now!!... Big hug.....xo
