My boys were in hockey and my daughter in figure skating. If they didn't do what they were told, contribute, go to school, they lost their sports privileges, in theory.

It never happened because they knew we were serious and sports was too important to them. I just lucked out. It was just a built in behavior modification system that never stopped working. They were good and motivated.

I was a terror to my mom. But then, she never let me do what I wanted to do, which was dance and piano. I had to play golf and badminton. No wonder I rebelled.

Why not contact his shop teacher? When my kids were in school we stayed in pretty close contact with all their teachers - but not in an annoying way. When they were in high school I was the master scheduler so I knew all their teachers as co-workers and it worked out really well.

You son may have one perspective on what's happening in class but I bet the teacher has another. All three of you can work together to make sure he has a good educational experience.

Sorry your son is being so angry. Baby #3's was our worst and he just gave us the silent treatment. I'm not sure what's worse!

i have a 15 year old nightmare who always has to get the last word in,comes in when he wants to,will only go to school if i drive him mouths off to me constantly,smokes pot and my ex wont back me up.

than a 22 yo that has lives w me rent free since nov finally gets a job and still does not contribute even though i am living on 276 for 5 people.i drive him to work at 6a(nightmare) doesnt offer gas money.wheni asked him when he was going to started giving me rent and gas he starting stopping around and slamming doo rs and now not talking to me........if i would have known 20 years what those ute little bundles grow into i may have thought differently!!!

We talked when he came home.....I grounded him for his unruly behavior and he said he talked with his shop teacher and they are going to work on things. He get intimidated by the machinery and gets nervous and then doesn't want to do the work. He adores the shop teacher though and looks upon him very highly so I think things there will be fine.

Yes teens are difficult but I try to remember that soon he will be leaving me and starting a life of his very own...hopefully with me still included!! lol Nah I know he won't forget about old mom here!!

I am very blessed to have to great kids...with kind hearts and for that I am forever grateful. I've raised the on my own most of their lives and I think I did pretty damn good too! :-)
