Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. Sweet Mia came to me from a shelter about...

I can tell you that good friendships happen when people gravitate toward each other because they find one another positive to be around, and because both put out the effort to be a good friend in return. The world doesn't owe us friends, we make friendships on our own, based upon our character and personality and behavior. It's important to be the kind of person that you would want as a friend.
Similarly, that also can be the types of things that either bring us closer to family, or pushes them away.
If you call someone your boyfriend even when he treats you like dirt, that is a problem. Strong women do not stay with men who treat them badly, and complain about that treatment rather than change the situation. We don't get to complain about the things we can change.
If a person sees her life truly as you describe yours, she may have some things to work on. Life is hard and life is never, ever fair, and all we can do is decide what we want and then figure out what to do to achieve those goals.
Being a mom who doesn't 'suck', as you say, would be a great goal, and it's one that people would stand up and take notice of.
You can have a better life despite being bipolar, but no one make that happen but you. Make sure you are doing everything you can to address your medical / mental health issue. Are you under the care of a good physician who you respect and listen to and follow the advice of? Do you have a counselor who understands bipolar and, again, do you listen and take the advice to heart?
I've had two bipolar boyfriends, and I used to work with people with mental health disorders, including bipolar. I know that life isn't easy, but I also know that it can be manageable if you are very determined to make it so. You have to know that no one owes you anything and that only you can make needed changes.
If your boyfriend is so mean, maybe he shouldn't be your boyfriend. If you need something to give you joy and a "pick me up" try Volunteering. Youth groups, Sr. Centers, ASPCA (animal shelters) there are many opportunities out there where people would love your help and time and they are very appreciative of it.
Who cares about your sister, worry about you and your life, find ways to make you happy and let her live her life.
Take care,
