Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I was all prepared to tell the nurse I thought I was going to see just how shitty things have been this past month. How often I wish I was dead.
But, this being a free clinic you just never know who you are going to get to see.
I got some gut from New York who was just there "helping out". He made me really uncomfortable so I couldn't open up at all. The appt went like this -
pdoc - "So why are you here today?"
Me - "I'm just here to get my meds"
pdoc - "Ok, let's get this done so you can get out of here"
At which point he promptly wrote out the prescriptions and sent me on my way.
He didn't ask me any questions about how I'd been feeling at all.
The good part is he wrote them for 3 refills so I won't have to go without meds part of the time like I've been doing. They didn't schedule me to come back till two months from now which they never do. But it all worked out. I just feel like I don't really get mental health care. I just get meds. But then that's the most important thing anyway. I'm glad I get meds. But it would be nice to tell someone how bad things have been. I just don't see that happening at this clinic though. Oh well.

Everyday I feel more and more sick. Being in pain every day, I've learned to disguise it. So well that others don't believe my pain when I speak of it. Needing help but only receiving negative responses, I find my way but pay for it later. I absolutely need the rest but there's pressing things to be done.

Ugh my depression is really being triggered by the grief of losing my mom. Ugh it sucks. I wish this pain would leave me already.

I share with my own Pdoc , how most people have little personal interaction with their Pdoc's.
The majority of BP patients , spend 10 to 15 minutes with their Pdoc's !
My Pdoc and I spend an hour or so together .
Last Friday, I had a massive anxiety attack, and my Pdoc drove with me to the ER and helped get me admitted !
My Pdoc and I agree, Mental Health care is so important , to have a caring Pdoc .... and it's criminal , that so few people do
I am glad you got a good supply of meds !
I have had the same pdoc for over 20 years and remember that for the first many he would sit down during our appt., look at me, and say "TALK". WTF is that? I used to almost cower because I felt intimidated. I know how difficult it can be but "we" have to make it what we need because noone else is going to do it for us.
You deserve to be here, you are valued, you have more gifts than you know or give yourself credit for. Your life is not easy but every single time that you hang on and you walk yourself through to the next day, I notice. It gives me strength and it gives me the courage to believe that we can do this no matter what. xo
I always had a grudge I guess because I think it's a lot of guesswork and that freaks me out.
My take on from how you described it is this. He asked why you were there, and you said just for meds. He took that and I think was trying to be helpfull in getting you on your way quickly, not out of maiice, but just so you can get on with your day. Apts can be stressors themselves, just being there even when things are going ok, and you just want in and out to get on with life.
I have had docs where the apt took forever when it should have been 10 min max, just to get the refills. I could see if things were changing, but all it was was just refills, no new or change in dosage. My HIV/Primary care doc is like that, seems like he wants to talk about everything under the sun, even after he sent off the scripts to the pharmacy. Sometimes the nurse shows up to kick him out, so she can draw my blood and remind him he is now an hour behind. I always get the 1st apt, and even for that one he is late. I don't normaly see him until 30 min after my apt time.

I wish you the best

I don't have Ins . I used to go a free clinic where they mostly just write scripts.
I now go to a different mental health clinic for people who don't have Ins . Took me a long time to get in however worth it now .
It is state run ( I think ) I pay 10 dollars for Pdocc and 5 dollars for therapy .
I used to think there was nothing out there for me as far as help.
It took a lot to find services , Maybe there is something else out there you don't know about ??
It would have been really nice if you could have talked to some one ! Big Hugs
