Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I don't know exactly how this transpired -- if you first argued about it and she hit you for what she considers 'mouthing off' or if she just walked up to you out of the blue and hit you, where and/or how hard she hit you, or what -- so I don't know how horrible I think this is.
No matter what happened immediately before she hit you, I don't think she should have done it.
I don't think 'hitting' should ever be an okay option for a situation such as this.
If she has done this to you before, what does your psychiatrist say about it? If your relationship with your mother is a particularly troubled one -- and if you hate her, it certainly isn't a very good one -- perhaps your Pdoc will suggest to your mother that the two of you see a family therapist.
Separate from this trouble between you and your mom, if you are too depressed to study, get in touch with your Pdoc and tell him so.
Maybe a change in meds will help you to break free from your depression.
Good luck.
I hope things are better soon!!!

Hitting is never right. There has to be some action that can be taken to stop your mom. She HAS TO REALIZE that depression is a mental health condition and not a flaw in character. Can you move ot a friend's house or get some type of family counseling?
Some "normies" can understand mental health issues, but these types of normies often have something going on themselves, like my own siblings. SimonCross is correct that a good 95% of the time, normies ain't gonna get it.
I think the idea that you have your doctor talk with her is a good one..xo
