I would feel a little jipped also, but consider this, she is throwing a big party, pretend it is for you!
You can always celebrate your B-day with your family and friends on another day, and I bet she announces it to everyone, she might even have something special planned for you!

Look at it as a double celebration. Celebrate your friends wedding & at the same time celebrate your b'day.

You'll probably get some recognition for your birthday and well-wishes and you'll get free food and drinks and dancing!

If your birthday had been on a Tuesday, for example, you probably would have postponed the "big party" to the weekend.....why not have your big party the next weekend? I'm sure no one will mind. And you can tell everyone how your first week being 30 has been. Hahaha!

I could see why you wouldn't be ecstatic. Maybe see if you can have a big bash for your birthday the weekend before with all of your friends. And then that leaves you your actual birthday day to be "free" for the wedding. And you could possibly have family/friends around for your birthday the night before if you wanted to.

the actual day is not as important as you think, celebrate your b'day when you want to l've celebrated a week or 2 before sometimes if the day hasn't been possible.

Thanks guys! You're right. I'm really starting to see the bright side of situation. And I love thinking of it as a double celebration. :) It looks like her wedding will be this year instead, so I'll be flying up to Canada in March. I'm actually really excited now. Have same situation here this year. My 30th BDay it is. And i normally didnt do any BDay, but this one I was planning to do, so I felt really sad when she asked me to be the bridesmaid, at the same time saying "I know it is your birthday"... But here face change when she did realise that is the BIG 30th... but I made a peace with it. I can do something at the other day :)

It's totally normal to be feeling like that. While I'm young, I know thirty is an important birthday. It's completely understandable that you'd want your best friend to be there to celebrate with you. I'm very close with my Aunt and her first child is due almost exactly on my seventeenth birthday. I'm so happy and excited to meet my cousin but I'm feeling a little disappointed that it falls so close. I feel so guilty about that but it's a natural to want your friend (or family member) to be there on a special day. Maybe you could try sharing a little bit of those feelings with your friend and hopefully you can set aside a day for the two of you to celebrate your big day too. Good luck and Happy Birthday!
