Try to keep your motivation at a low level. Pick out a few tasks to do each day. You don't have to do everything at once! Moving is a draining experience so go easy on yourself.

Just do a couple of little things each day. Don't over do it. Drink some coffee. But not too much because then you'll get manic.
I'm currently moving too. I'm moving from the house I lived in for all the 21 years of my life to a new one because Dad is getting married. :\

I agree with the others; just decide on a few things to do each day or determine a set amount of time you want to work on moving. You could spend a half hour, go do something else or take a break, then work on it for another half hour and call it a day.

Big tasks are always easier if you break them up into little parts. Also, reward yourself for following through with your plan.

Your favorite music really loud, small tasks to start out with; nothing overwhelming. And that's about all I can think of Hanna Banana ;=)

Congratulations on the move to a new house! It is a daunting thing to do, I understand this. Try to pick things to do that are still manageable for you, like, do the bathroom one day and the kitchen the next....getting something done will give you a sense of accomplishment. Play music while doing it and the time will pass quicker. Good luck to you!

I hate moving too! What about rewarding yourself with a small task that you *want* after a day of unpacking? ie: after you unpack something unpleasant, you will hang a picture on the wall, or something else like that that will help you feel more settled and more like home?

i know exactly what you are talking about and we don't even have the financing on the house approved. i am dreading everything possible about it. the move out, the move in, cleaning this place once we are out. what i am going to do with all of that space. hanging pictures, luckily don't have to worry about curtains all the way around the house, except for kidlets room since we are (listen to me, it is like we have it) surrounded by woods, painting, do we have enough towels for 3 bathrooms, what about toilet paper, am i supposed to buy a 12 pack for each of them. where am i gonna put the cat box and i have to hide their food from the dog or she will eat it. the thoughts race on and on and on, i can't stop them. i usually end up in a ball crying for at least a half an hour each day.

Sometimes when I need to motivate to do things around the house, I'll put on some reggae music and groove around while I work. Our cable tv has a reggae music channel that's good. Good luck!
