I had planned all week to help her clean today. She calls me from outside my sisters apt waiting for her this am. I'm all, "What the heck Mom?! I told you I was gonna help you today!"
She made up the lame excuse that I was with my friend last night, which I wasn't. That was the night before last. And now she's saying she's only organizing hings today, not cleaning. (My mom is an OCD clean freak on the worst level.) Now, she's saying she's cleaning tomorrow and I've had plans for WEEKS for tomorrow that I have to cancel because of her. It's really going to let my friend down. She has begged me to come see her new place for a long time now (I just haven't had a ride) and she's having a bonfire party tomorrow night.
Half of me is like, "Yeah, my mom is going to flake picking me up anyway, like she always does and then she'll guilt trip me." And the other half is just F*cking sick of the bullshit.

Bibiane, if I tell my mother about the bonfire, she will guilt trip me till the day I die, then again, she'll do that anyways. I dunno. I'm so torn. I just can't take this anymore!
But understand Sufferjet's point.
She may be disappointed. BUT She will understand. She's a mom.

If your mom is a flake, and changed the schedule - that would make you a drama queen to cancel yours, JUST so you can say your mom's a bitch.. Sounds like your putting yourself on a guilt trip LOL...
Let her bitch, and go have fun with your friends - the point is do the right thing, and then FORGET about you mom, quit having both sides of the argument in your head....

I get the feeling that if you refused to help your mom tomorrow and went to the bonfire you would feel bad about. Not that your mom would MAKE you feel guilty -- that's your choice.
So .... what about a compromise? Help your mom clean for part of the day and then visit your friend's new place and enjoy the bonfire. Win-Win, no?
I'd be skipping the carnival @ Niagra Falls tonight if I were you. Why set yourself up to be upset?

Your mom sounds a lot like my mom in some respects. I vowed to not be the can of gas on her fire. Instead, I visual being a big wet blanket that snuffs out whatever kinda drama fire she wants to start.
The word "arsonist" rolls around in my head sometimes when I'm dealing with her. That just totally cracks me up because she, in all her perfectionism, would be mortified to know she's a criminal. :)
My sis ter is like this.
It's like I'm not allowed to have a social life without her interrupting very freaking hour. I'm just going to start not answering her phone calls. She does that to me all of the time. Let's see how she likes it.
