Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I know it's my own voice doing what I can't physically do anymore.
Meds make it impossible for me to scream or cry anymore so I just
hear it in my head because inside it's what I really want to do.
The hallucination that might is right...to me...is far too common in this world.
Less common is I see dead people...well have many times in the past.
A voice calling my name
Voices - usually songs. It could be rock, classical, ethnic...all sorts of stuff. Sometimes it keeps me up at nigh. I have to turn on a radio.
Doesn't seem to be stress related, doesn't occur more often when I'm tired, happens whether I'm 'up' or 'down', whenever!!
Someone calling my name sometimes. Sounds like a radio is on a couple of rooms away from me.
The 'funnest' one -- and the most common one, too! -- is when it sounds like a group of people are breaking in through my back door or like a car has driven into the house or just a generic sort of huge 'crash'.
Ah!! Now, the VISUAL hallucinations!!! That's different!!!
That's definitely brought on by too much stress, being hyper, and being up for way, way, too long!!!!
Yep!!! Animals in the road!!! (As well as elsewhere.)
Really crazy, acid-trip kinds of things!!!
What about inanimate things seeming to have personalities?
Sometimes, certain things, like a cup sitting there, or a chair, or just anything will seem 'malevolent'!!!
Like it's out to get me, or wishes me ill, at the very least.
I don't like to turn my back on them, when they're like that, LOLOL!!!!
What the hell is THAT all about!!!?
Does that count as a hallucination!!!?
I know it means I'm paranoid, but that's a rather odd form of it to take, don't you think?
Hallucination? Visits from the Beyond? Angels? Shadow things? Forces of good and/or evil? Interdimensional bleed-through? Medication side-effects?
They're all separate departments, to me. And I can tell this difference...most of the time.
So as far as what blessedgirl described with the cats-on-the-sofa, I occasionally see bugs that aren't really there. And shadow things, of course, but only the Bugs are directly in front of my vision. Shadow things are just in the corners.
I once said I didn't auditorily hallucinate, but thanks to being Here, I guess I Do. (I mean, you helped me understand what it means! lol)
I hear Lots of things (with my ears, not in my head) that turn out not to be there, but it doesn't frighten me. I just think, gee - what is That about, this time?
I (still) wonder what things we all experience, and what things are hallucinations and what are perhaps Not.
