should i be offended if my best friend mocks bipolars? she just did it and i don't know how to feel, i'm a little hurt and she knows i'm BP. should she be more sensitive about it?

Hell yes she should be more sensitive! Good grief! Can you imagine?? My sister-in-law is Chinese. Should I make racist Chinese jokes in front of her?! (Should I make those kinds of jokes at all?). Tell her that that's what she sounds like, and when she pooh-poohs you tell her, no really it's genetic and would you at least mind laughing at me BEHIND my back? Some people. Girl, stand up for yourself. Not with a blazing torch-as a forgiving friend-but kick her in the ass! She needs it!

my best friend mocks beepers, and she's a social worker for christ's sake. talk about professionalism.

lets just say I don't dare tell her about what I'm going through. sad, really...I can't even tell my BEST FRIEND I am a beeper? oh well.

Well I'm glad you can recognize the danger. We all have emotions, though and she might be able to relate to feelings of sadness or anger or disappointment,etc. We have to dumb it down for the non beeper types. Sorry she's your best if you can't talk. You deserve better.

i have lost good friends when i told them about this disease. one said 'that's silly' and another just ignored it. some friends! i am now more careful about who i tell!
