i am so relieved to finally find something to explain what i have struggled with since a child. i think Halterbroke posted a link on this quite some time ago.
ever since i was a child i have had issues with certain sounds...they would enrage me....i could not sit next to my father at dinner time as the noise of him eating would drive me into a rage... as i gt older i ended up eating in my bedroom. the sight and sound of my brother sucking his thumb would have my inside in knots as soon as i saw it or heard it.
i also cannot stand the sound of animals eating or cleaning themselves...and i cant even look at it.
it was fight or flight....i would have t leave the room!
i rarely visit people who have animals around all the time....
and i even try to avoid car journeys with my father as he chews gum...even if it is quietly ...seeing the jaw movement through the corner of my eye makes me literally want to want to scream.
an ex partner thought was completely insane as i couldnt stand the sound of his breathing whilst sat next to him on the sofa..i used to put an earplug in!!!! my whole body feels as if its going to explode with anger!
anyone else relate to this???

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

There is also another thing, "Highly Sensitive People", HSP, and they are also bothered by noise, but not to the extent of misophonia. I think a lot of BP's have this too - getting very upset when overstimulated by light, noise, being hungry, the air temperature being too hot or cold, etc etc. More sensitive than most, at least.
My sister in law is really amazing. She doesn't swallow...she gulps. Slurp..gulp. Scarf...gulp. Oh the horrors.
