Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Due to long term mis-prescribing by psychiatrists, and the resulting loss of my career, my house, friends and family and then the loss of my Mum three years afo, two and a half years ago I tried to take my life in a 100% serious attempt and nearly did die - coma etc.
After I came out of the coma is when the passive aggression came to a peak - and I am talking about during the first 72 hours when a suicide patient is most likely to try again. People were obstensibly "there for me", but there was a seething rage beneath the surface that I had made them suffer by my actions, put them out etc. I have worked my arse off tyo stay alive in the time since then but my brothers have been terrible to me.
I have ultimately made a complete separation from family for the rest of our lives (there are other issues of rejection stigma about mental illness etc from wider family too). I have grief about it - most people want family - humans are hard wired by evolution to need to be in the middle of the group to survive. But the real grief is about the DELUSION that I have had for years about the true nature of my family as they relate to me - loving me etc. And I take responsibility for holding that delusion and I'll work through it now I have just moved away from the town I was in where some of my family were.
I find it easier to pick when people are being passive aggressive to me now and I just won't put up with it. I want quality of life - I have worked for it and I deserve it.
Me and my father have never been close, however, when he was diagnosed with an incurable illness I put everything aside and said ok this is my father and I dont want him to go through this alone. So out of love and the kindness of my heart I tried to make our relationship work. I took care of him, called him often to make sure he was ok. And surpisingly he did the same. You see, during that time I experienced the worse manic episode yet and every sleep aid my pdoc would throw at me just didnt work and was rapidly getting worse. My father knew this and in fact would stay up with me at night when I couldnt sleep through phone calls etc. Simply put he KNEW how bad I was getting.
On the brink of hospitalization, we finally found one drug that would make me sleep, only for an hour or two, but at least I was sleeping again..somewhat. Progress.
I let my dad in and finally began to trust him. Boy, was I DUMB. The bastard came over, cleaned me out of my sleep meds, left only 12 in the whole bottle (keep in mind it was 6-8 pills a dose), got caught, came over and returned only 8 (8!) of the pills stolen, all the while bragging about what a great sleep he got on MY pills. As a result of my lack of medication, I went into sleep deprivation pychosis and began hallucinating and I had to be put back in the hospital. It he fucked me over, got me sent back to the hospital and it was all his fault.
So yeah, after that I broke free from the asshole and we havent really talked much since. I cut him out of my life completely. Best decision I ever made.
I would get tired of dealing with the same old patterns and outcomes, and feeling bad at the receiving end. That is when I would put an end to them.
How to get away from those relationships? I'm still working on that one. Someone had suggested a Co-dependency book for me.
That book has disappeared.
My usual response is foul, cruel, juvenille and alienating. Sometimes even scary. Life in Hell.
My older brother serves as a trigger for me. Friggin mind games galore.
My whole life is mind games. My parents... You had to think fast to live in my house as a kid. It just never ended. I have good game. And most of my game is just showing up even if my game sucks...
My best game is when I give up and follow the rules.
